A Heart Not Easily Broken- Ebony's POV #4

Welcome back to the LAST sneak peek into the third chapter of A Heart Not Easily Broken, Book 1 of The Butterfly Memoirs!

Chapter 3 takes us back to Ebony's POV. After meeting sexy bass guitarist, Brian Young, at a nightclub during a Girl's Night Out with her friends, and ignoring his attempt to get to know her, she figured she'd never see him again. Two days later, he shows up at her house, hired by her roommate to cut their grass. Discovering  there is more to the blue-eyed hunk than sexy hands on a guitar is an eye opener. How will she respond?

After his laughter subsides, Brian tells Ebony he likes her feistiness and the color of her skin. He then drops the bomb and tells her that he has dated black women before. This information leaves her speechless. Brian reminds her that she still hasn't told him why she avoided him. Without giving too much more information away, I will leave you guys with the last six sentences of chapter 3:

“No, I don’t have a problem with you being white.”
“Somehow I find that hard to believe,” he said, matter-of-factly.
“Well, it’s true. One of my best friends and roommate is white,” I said in defense.
“Good. Since race is not a problem, go out with me tomorrow night.”

So, have I left you wanting more? I hope so because A Heart Not Easily Broken will be published THIS THURSDAY! Thank you guys so much for your support! I hope you enjoy the book and please follow me on the links listed below and share your comments and questions!

Standing this close to a shirtless Brian has Ebony struggling to keep her eyes straight ahead. She asks how much the yard work is going to cost. Instead of answering her question, he asks one of his own: why did she not meet him in the VIP section of the club? After some witty banter, lol, it comes down to this:

I rolled my eyes. “I’m an educated black woman with a good head on my shoulders, not some ‘ho from the hood. If that’s what you want, then I suggest you go take a ride down−”
Brian’s dimples popped as his lips pulled back in a hearty laugh. He shook his head. “I knew there was something about you I liked.”

Gotta love a man who refuses to let a woman's fuming get in the way of his attraction to her!

Alright peeps! As the countdown clock shows, there's ONE MORE WEEK before publication day! Whoo Hoo! Be sure to come back for the final Six Sentence Sunday post of A Heart Not Easily Broken!

If your anything like Ebony was last week, your still fanning yourself!

Refreshed after a shower and wearing a pair of shorts and tank top, Ebony grabs a few bottles of water for Brian and the two young men working for him. She talks herself into ignoring her attraction by chalking it up to not having sex for six months. Outside, she hands Brian a water bottle and comments on how great the yard looks.

"It sure does.”
I glanced at him. He didn’t hide the fact his gaze started at my bare legs and slowly traveled back up. His expression made his thoughts apparent. I started to open my mouth and comment, until our eyes met. His gaze sent a warm tingle along my skin, reminding me of the way I felt when he held my hand.

Girlfriend, you can't ignore what's meant to be for very long!

After making it into her house carrying her load of books for school, Ebony is beyond flustered. She thought she'd never see Brian again unless she went back to the club. Now he's here, in her yard... still handsome and his smile even cockier. Then she realizes she smells like the animal hospital where she works. Disgruntled, she hops into the shower. Afterwards, she goes to the kitchen and peeks out of the window and is dumbstruck by the site before her. Brian has stripped down to his shorts as he works, sweat dripping over his body.

His abs were tight, his belly button nearly nonexistent.

Brian’s bronzed skin reminded me of a Greek statue, a testament of many hours spent working outside. His backward baseball cap hid the thick blond curls I’d seen at the club. The damp ringlets hung below its rim, accentuating his square facial structure and the shape of his nose. His blue eyes seemed to glow from deep within his skin.
            Brian was unbelievably sexy

She didn't see that coming! Who knew sweat could look so good? Anyone else in need of lawn care????? (ladies, get your heads out of the gutter...lol!)

A Heart Not Easily Broken- Brian's POV #4

Welcome back for a sneak peek into the second chapter of A Heart Not Easily Broken, Book 1 of The Butterfly Memoirs!

Chapter two is an introduction to the male lead of the story, Brian Young, sexy bass guitarist in the band, Diverse Nation.  If you missed last weeks post, no problem, click the link, or read the full first chapter

The conversation over, Ebony leaves him to work and heads into her house. Brian takes the opportunity to appreciate her body hidden underneath bulky work clothes. After all, her curvaceous figure has haunted his dreams since the night they met.

Outside the club, in natural light, Ebony did not disappoint. Her almond shaped eyes were a rich shade of brown, dark and mysterious. She wore no makeup on her caramel skin, and her lips were naked, with no hint of gloss.

I chuckled when she finally got her front door unlocked. It appeared she’d run into some trouble with her key. Flustered perhaps?

Brian, I think you've made an impression!

FIVE WEEKS LEFT UNTIL PUBLICATION!!!!

If you've been paying attention to the countdown clock, you know its coming up fast. I can't wait! Next week I will share parts of chapter 3. Sorry, not posting chapter 2. You've got five weeks to wonder about all the fun stuff that happens in between!

A Heart Not Easily Broken- Brian's POV #3

Welcome back for a sneak peek into the second chapter of A Heart Not Easily Broken, Book 1 of The Butterfly Memoirs!

Ebony didn't meet him at the club after all. But isn't it funny how life can put something good for you in your path, even if its not what you expected? If it keeps showing up, then you should probably pay it some attention.

It dawned on me I did not answer her question regarding the form of payment. At least it would give me something to talk about when we were done.

Saturday night, Ebony disappeared like Cinderella, without leaving a hint of a glass slipper. Now, barely two days later, I found where she lived. What were the chances? This was fate.

Fate, hmm....could Brian be a romantic? If nothing else, he knows how to manipulate a situation to suit him. Come back next week to see where it goes!
